For three years from 2004 I lived at Yarra Glen. Every day spent in that little village on the far north eastern outskirts of Melbourne offered inspiration. The beautiful local landscape of the Yarra Valley provided an everyday visual feast, and the district's famous vineyards marked the change of seasons in spectacular fashion.
My links with the district will make my forthcoming talk to the Eastern Regional Libraries Group a bit of a trip down memory lane. However the talk will focus on the research and writing aspects of my books on Robert Forrester and Paul Bushell, two of the earliest settlers of Australia. How did I get from a few snippets about these men into full length books, wherein they were disinterred enough that readers feel as if they know the men personally?
This lunchtime talk will be presented at Belgrave Library, Reynolds Lane, Belgrave on Thursday 31 March at 12.30pm. Bookings are essential. Telephone 9754 7266.
